Introduction to Mini Mosaics for Wall Art Installations with Carrie Strope
Join us for an exciting all day class that explores the art of making and installing mini mosaics as street art! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist looking to explore a new medium, this course is designed to provide you with the fundamental knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to create stunning mosaic pieces that can be installed in public spaces.
What You Will Learn:
Learn to cut free form shapes with mosaic nippers and cutting tools, placing tesserae quickly without the need to cut each one to fit.You will have the opportunity to design a signature tile and learn how to cut with the aid of a ring saw.
By the end of the class, you will have gained a solid foundation in the art of making and installing mini mosaics for Wall Art installations. You will leave the course with your own completed mini mosaic artwork, ready to be integrated into urban spaces and contribute to the vibrant world of graffiti art.

About the Instructor:
Carrie Strope has been working in glass since 2005, combining techniques across COE. She facilitates large scale mosaics in schools and communities and will be focusing on teaching how to prepare small mosaics for incorporation into larger installations or public spaces. She has been crowned the Professional Glass Cutting Contest winner at the Glass Craft and Bead Expo and is ready to share her cutting skills with you, as well as tips for incorporating your torch worked and fused glass items into mosaics.

Note: Please do not bring outside scrap glass to class, we only use COE 96 glass and can not guarantee the glass you purchased elsewhere is the right coefficient for our firing schedule. COE 90 or non-fusing glass will contaminate our work space and cause problems if it gets into our scrap glass that is for sale.
