Outdoor Equipment Use - Members Only

Are you a member that needs to cold work your glass project outside of class? Or you are a GFC member that has a home studio and needs access to our large equipment that we store outside? This registration allows you access to ONLY the outdoor equipment, for one evening.

You must know how to set up, use, clean up and put away the equipment by yourself. There will be no guidance from the studio monitor or instructor.

You must register 1 week prior to the day you want to come in. The monitor or instructor of the time that you want to come in will be notified of your registration so that they are aware you will be coming in. You are responsible for setting up the equipment without assistance and cleaning the equipment before the end of class. We have a Belt Sander, Lap Grinder, Sand Blaster, and Table Saw available for use.

Saturday Afternoon, Independent Studio Session

Are you ready to take the leap and work on your own? Independent Studio is open to people that have taken at least 2 instructional classes with one of our instructors, or if you are experienced in glass fusing and would like an exception, please email us a request to join Independent Studio. Each studio session offers you a community to collaborate and share in the joy of fusing glass and making art! There is a studio monitor there to show people where studio equipment can be found, and to make sure the studio is tidy before everyone leaves. This studio monitor is not an instructor!

Independent Studio Time

Saturdays, 1 PM – 4PM

Equipment: Ring saw, tile saw, grinder, circle cutter, band saw, drill press, lap grinder, & belt sander

Experienced Glass Fusers:

A GFC member who is not currently enrolled in this class or Independent Studio session may register to use the Outdoor Equipment Only, and not be enrolled in Independent Studio. This gives the member access to all the equipment that is in the outdoor area of the studio. It does not include the indoor grinders or glass cutting equipment. The available times are Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday evenings.

Do you love glass? Have you always wanted to try making your own fused glass work but didn't know where to start? Join us for the Tuesday morning Beginners Class and launch into glass fusion magic! Repeat students are encouraged - there is always something new to learn!

New students, your registration includes a small sampling of COE 96 glass colors and one sheet of clear glass to practice with, and a 12" x 12" sheet of shelf paper. Returning students, are able to purchase the starter pack for an additional $45 (Returning students: click "add starter pack" on the registration page if you want add this to your registration total).

Please bring all supplies to the first day of class.

COE 90 or non-fusing glass will contaminate our work space and cause problems if it gets into our scrap glass that is for sale.

Join Master Artist Bud Spindt for the Wednesday morning All Levels Class! Bud instructs beginner and intermediate students on glass fusing techniques while introducing tools used to accomplish your work. Bud structures his class where you bring a project idea, or have something in mind, and he helps you learn from start to finish how to fuse glass. Advanced students benefit from Bud's knowledge and experience, and it's just plain fun to be with other artists!

If you've ever wanted to work with glass but didn't know where to start, this is the class for you! Over ten weeks you'll build a real foundation in the craft — learning to cut and assemble glass, load the kiln, read firing schedules, and finish your work — with an emphasis on craftsmanship and technical skill so you understand not just what to do, but why it works. Whether you come in with a project idea already in mind or need help finding your direction, you'll leave with finished pieces you're proud of. There’s no experience necessary, and repeat students are encouraged - there is always something new to learn!

Independent Studio Time

Tuesdays, 6 PM – 9PM

Independent Studio session entails:

Three hour period to make glass
Firing on site*
Equipment: Ring saw, tile saw, grinder, circle cutter, band saw, drill press, lap grinder, & belt sander
Frit, stringers, noodles, enamel powders, & paper are sold on on site
Glass and additional supplies can be purchased through our online store

*Firing is done on premises. Each person is allowed 12 square feet per 10 week session but not all at once, meaning that firing should not be done at the end of the semester.

New students, your registration includes a small sampling of COE 96 glass colors and one sheet of clear glass to practice with, and a 12" x 12" sheet of shelf paper. Returning students are able to purchase the starter pack for an additional $45 (Returning students: click "add starter pack" on the registration page if you want add this to your registration total).
